The Beer Game
Beer Game Background

The Beer Game, also referred to as the Production Distribution Game, has been played by tens of thousands of managers from a wide variety of businesses, government agencies, non-profit groups and graduate schools. The System Dynamics Group at MIT, under the direction of Jay Forrester, developed the Beer Game 40 years ago. The game origianlly represented probelms experienced in the white goods industry. It was developed to introduce participants to the concepts of system dynamics modeling. However, over time, management trainers and educators have used the Beer Game to introduce people to a wide variety of leadership issues facing management teams in the private and public sector.
